Unboxing and Design
This box’s large 67W charger is the first item we notice. Yes, Xiaomi 12 5G includes it in the bundle, which these days seems to be a huge deal with flagships. When you first open the box, you will find a protective case, standard literature, and a little insert with a SIM Ejector pin. In light of the fact that the back here is glass, I greatly appreciate this. A Black, Green, Blue, or Pink smartphone will be included in the box, depending on the color option you choose. By the way, the Green version is made of vegan leather rather than glass. Anyhow, the USB-type C cord for this phone has an orange accent.
The power and volume keys, as well as the SIM tray, are visible after taking a brief tour inside the Xiaomi 12 5G. Both IP certification and micro SD support are absent from this. Transfer rates will be rather slow because this USB connector is only USB Type-C 2.0. Also absent is a headphone jack. On the other hand, stereo speakers are present. These have Harmon Kardon tunings. Additionally, Dolby Atmos is supported in terms of software. Even the IR blaster is still there. among the last companies to do so.
Compared to Pro Version
The 127W charger is the first feature that the Xiaomi 12 5G lacks in comparison to the Pro model. Do not misunderstand me; this one has a 67W one, which is still something. Additionally, both of them support 10W reverse wireless charging and 50W wireless charging. In contrast to Li-Po batteries, which have a 4600 mAh capacity, this one has a 4500 mAh capacity.
The next difference is with these displays. Here you get 6.28 inches compared to 6.73 on the Pro. And this is a Full HD Plus compared to Quad HD Plus. But both are AMOLED panels with 120Hz refresh rates. But the next difference is that the Pro gets an LTPO panel which means it can switch between 60 and 120 Hz. Perhaps other differences worth mentioning are 419 PPI density compared to 521 PPI density and 50MP + 13MP + 5MP camera compared to 50MP + 50MP + 50MP camera on the Pro version.
Cameras
First off, let us start by saying we absolutely adore the camera on the Xiaomi 12 5G. Its great design choice makes it look really pleasant. Now the three sensors you see here are totally different from the three sensors you’ll find on the Xiaomi 12 Pro. Does that mean these cameras are bad? Well, the primary shooter is a 50 MP, f/1.9, 26mm (wide), 1/1.56″, 1.0µm, PDAF, OIS lens. Its images are decent the results of which are comparable to Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G’s. The secondary shooter is a 13 MP, f/2.4, 12mm, 123˚ (ultrawide), 1/3.06″, 1.12µm lens, and the third is a 5 MP, 50mm (telephoto macro), AF lens.
These displays represent the following distinction. As opposed to the Pro’s 6.73 inches, you get 6.28 inches here. And in contrast to Quad HD Plus, this is Full HD Plus. However, both have 120Hz refresh rates and are AMOLED displays. The Pro, however, has a second distinction in that it has an LTPO panel, allowing it to flip between 60 and 120 Hz. The 419 PPI density versus the 521 PPI density and the 50MP + 13MP + 5MP camera versus the 50MP + 50MP + 50MP camera on the Pro edition are possibly more distinctions worth noticing.
Display
The Xiaomi 12’s sizable, curved, the edge-to-edge screen makes it simple to operate one-handedly. Its display has an optical fingerprint scanner underneath it. It responds and moves fairly quickly. There isn’t really anything wrong with it other than where it is. It is a little less than usual. even worse than where it is on the Pro version. A hole punch is located on top of the display. Its 30MP selfie camera is located here.
The display features here are as follows:
- OLED, 1B colors, 120Hz, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, 1100 nits (peak)
- 6.28 inches, 95.2 cm2 (~89.2% screen-to-body ratio)
- 1080 x 2400 pixels, 20:9 ratio (~419 PPI density)
- Corning Gorilla Glass Victus
